The Trendy Nurse Takes a Look at the Golden Globes 2012 Red Carpet

The nude dresses certainly conquered the Golden Globes Red Carpet. While white has always been the color of nursing uniforms, it is not an often seen color on the red carpet nor are pale colored gowns. Surprisingly, it was the trend on the red carpet as more stars showed up in the palest colors. The term nude has been debated on the same way the color flesh has been especially since according to designers it is a pretty broad color with a lot of specific shades. Nude, ecru, flesh, in the red carpet it all meant a shade a little darker than champagne, lighter than sand and perhaps with a hint of blush or peach.

American Idol winner Katharine McPhee dazzles in a strapless midi, tea-length Donna Karan dress embellished with leaf-shaped sparkles and matching sky-high stiletto plats. Mary J. Blige and Diane Lane also looked lovely in their gowns.

Jessica Chastain was a vision in white Givenchy couture decorated in pearls. Piper Perabo stunned in her mega-volume Theysken’s Theory gown that is neutral, gray, and puce-y all at the same time. Golden Globe nominee Shailene Woodley looked exquisite in her Marchesa beaded gown that sparkled so much she didn’t need any fancy accessories.

Angelina Jolie is back to ruling the Red Carpet these days. Angie is almost always stunning but in this white Atelier Versace gown with red folded neckline she looked positively regal.

The ‘Mildred Pierce’ actress, who was nominated for Best Supporting Actress, struts down the red carpet like a peacock in a striking metallic green Gucci number.

'The Help' star Emma Stone looks ravishing in this flowing deep plum Lanvin tulle gown with raspberry side panels and matching strappy sandals.

The new face of Dior Mila Kunis as always looks great in her gorgeous black Dior dress which she accessorized with Cartier jewels.

Nicole Kidman who has been less risqué gambled with this studded, V-strap Versace halter which certainly paid off. She looked simply beautiful.

Glee’s Naya Rivera opted for a silky gray Vera Wang gown and looked fabulous while Nicole looked stunning in her silver Julien Macdonald dress and Jimmy Choo shoes.

Reese Witherspoon looked lovely in her Zac Posen fitted gown and fashionista Diana Agron looked gorgeous in a red Giles Deacon dress with laser-cut swans.

Though we never get the chance to wear these kind of gowns, nurse like me should not feel so bad since there are now so many choices of the best scrubs to wear fashionably at any workplace.

3 goals….

Raul: Our fans are outstanding

18.12.2011

Raul celebrated three goals of his own against Bremen. |Copyright: firo sportphotoThere could be no doubt about it. The man of the match against Werder Bremen was Raul. The Spaniard was the stand-out player in an impressive Schalke team, registering three times in the 5-0 victory. During the game the fans chanted his name repeatedly in honour of his spectacular performance.

"Our fans are outstanding," gushed the hat-trick hero after the final whistle. "It was great to celebrate with them." Raul was reluctant to accept any praise, however. "It was a win by the whole team. We beat one of our direct rivals who had crept up behind us in the table. We’re now five points clear of Bremen," he said, emphasising the importance of the win.

Raul says he is very satisfied with what has been achieved so far and is hoping to put the icing on the cake of a strong first half of the season with a win at Borussia Mönchengladbach in the last 16 of the DFB Cup on Wednesday. “It’s going to be a really tricky encounter,” he said. “Our aim is to go into the winter break still in three competitions. So we have to win in Mönchengladbach as well!”
